Steve Smith, who works at the shop on Holloway Road, said vandalism has become common in recent months.
He said: “We try to move people on who wish to sit on the shop steps but many do not cooperate.
“When we do have graffiti vandalism though, the council are very good about re-painting doors or cleaning up after an incident.
“We as employees aren’t personally affected by things like this, it’s more about the business’ reputation. Customers won’t want to come in and spend money if there’s paint or graffiti all up the walls.”
Francis, another one of the shop’s employees, who did not want to give his surname, said that when he came into work at 8.30am on October 9 the paint was already there.
He and his colleagues used brooms and water to clear some of the paint, but they could not remove all of it.
The paint has since been cleared, and the culprits are currently unknown.
