Investigators have not yet gone inside the home, though the fire is under control, the law enforcement official said. The official requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the investigation.

Firefighters responded to flames Wednesday morning at a three-story row house in the 800 block of N. 23rd Street in Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood, city fire officials tweeted.

It took 50 minutes to place the fire under control, the fire department said.

Investigators are trying to determine the origin and cause of the fire, according to the law enforcement official.

Philadelphia police described the address as a home converted into two apartments.

Both police and fire officials are on location, police said, and the scene is still active despite the fire being under control, the fire department said.

The home is about a 2.5-mile drive northwest of Philadelphia’s Center City district.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
