There is a very cautious optimism for a ceasefire, and even some pushback against Joe Biden’s comments that a ceasefire deal could be in place as early as next week, said FRANCE 24’s journalist in Jerusalem, Andrew Hilliar. “There are talks going on between Hamas and Israeli officials this week in Doha [with] a concerted effort by some of the parties involved to build momentum ahead of Ramadan [ . . .] by leaking details of truce talks to the media to try and incite and push both sides to reach some sort of deal”, added Hilliar.
