Peter Beadle questions Barnet players’ commitment

Barnet’s poor form continued with successive home defeats at the hands of Bromley and Kings Lynn Town in their last two matches.

The consecutive losses saw the Bees drop down into 20th position in the National League, with just seven points from as many games.

A Jamar Loza brace was enough to give Kings Lynn the victory on Tuesday evening, with JJ Hooper missing from the penalty spot.

Manager Peter Beadle described the performance as “just not good enough” in a video shared by the club’s official Twitter account after the game.

“We started off really well, we sort of got a bit of a reaction from Saturday,” he said. “We started great, but two minutes in we’re denied a penalty for whatever reason I don’t know, but then six minutes in, yet again we find ourselves 1-0 down from us making a simple error in the middle of the pitch.

“We’re getting punished left, right and centre for every mistake that we seem to be making at the moment but that’s not an excuse, that’s just the way it is and the only way to get out of that is to get our head down and work hard.”

Beadle went on to question his players’ commitment, claiming that his side were in danger of putting themselves in a position of “playing catchup” with the rest of the division.

“It’s just a really disappointing evening after Saturday,” he said. “Tonight was a chance for us to bounce back and start on the front foot but we just seem so easy to score against, yet we find it doubly hard to create chances at the other end and a lot of that I think is down to players’ commitment and I think that’s something we’ve addressed certainly tonight.

“We’ve got to change, otherwise we’re going to have to start playing catchup and we don’t want to have to start playing catchup, we need to put points on the board ASAP, we may need to change the way we’re doing things and the players will certainly need to change what they’re doing at the moment.”

The manager went on to say his players had ignored his message of positivity prior to kick off.

“We shouldn’t be 1-0 down, simple as that. We’re in possession of the football, we’ve got one of our midfielders travelling forward into ten yards of space and for whatever reason he stops and turns round. The message before the game was to be as positive as we can be.”
